Alot of boats on the water today, and it seems like nobody stayed put long. At daylight 15 boats zoomed past the 99 bridge in Possum Creek and by about 830 about 15 of em had zoomed back lol.
Got on the water at daylight and started with topwater, but abandoned that quickly. Ended up finding a bunch of fish quickly on a shallow flat towards the mouth of Possum Creek that extended out into the creek farther than the others. Had a limit at 9:00 and ended up with 10 total fish. Nothing big, all were right between 2.5 and 3 lbs. My best five were probably close to 15. The fish were in the tops of the bigger trees and they wanted a white willow leaf spinnerbait. Mid-morning you could almost pick the trees they were going to be in. Lost the best fish, about 4 lbs, at the boat lol and had 4 more come off right at the boat as well. I left for awhile mid-morning, but ended up coming back and catching a few more on a texas rigged power worm.
The pattern died about 1130, so I tried several other spots, with no luck. Went way up Kitchen Creek to see if there were any beds but the only thing I saw spawning were a bunch of alligator gar. No beds to be found. On my way out I looked up at the shore about 10 feet away and there lay the biggest gator I've ever seen...didnt even see him on the way in!!
Talked to a few guys at the boat ramp but they didnt seem to have had any luck.
Anyone know how BassChamps turned out? I'll be interested to know where the big fish were...

Which part of the lake did you guys fish? Were you in the tourney, or just out for fun??

We were just out for fun. We did not fish our usual spots so we would not give anything away. We found some new spots to fish that we had all to ourselves but several boats had to get within casting distance to see what we were doing. Real brave/stupid/inconsiderate, I tell you. We fished on the south end of the lake within view of South Shore boat ramp.

I hear you. Two guys in a red and silver boat came up through Possumon full plane and cut right through all the flats...didnt even navigate the creek channel. Besides the stupidity of putting your boat at risk of serious damage, it was inconsiderate as hell. They literally ran right over where i was throwing my worm...but thats ok, 2 casts later I caught a fish out of their wake hehe.

I was fishing a cove on the west end and I'll bet it was the same boat that came into the cove on full plane, blasted past me and one other boat, got to the back of the cove and saw a third boat there, so made a 180 degree turn (still at darn near full throttle) and then blasted past me and the other boat near me on the way out and never once looked up to acknowledge that he saw any of us.
Hey SoutTexasCracke, I saw your report under the Bass Fishing Forum and posted a reply. Can you tell me how deep of water the trees you were fishing were setting in? I fished Saturday also, but stayed in 6 feet or less most of the day and am thinking that I was too shallow. I ended up with 7 total for all day, between 2 and 3 pounds, but had to work real hard to get those.

Yeah, I was pretty shallow also. The fish were all between 4 and 8 feet deep and they were mostly in the middle of the flat. Once you got towards the edges close to the creek channel and it started dropping into deeper water...nothing.

I was there for the Champs tourn and fishing was great. We ended up with right under 18 lbs but it was a blast. I will say that these tournaments are great, but it sure does bring out the inconsiderate anglers. Started out in the back of four fingers and saw two of the most ignorant acts I have ever seen in a bass boat. 1. As we turned right to go to our spot I watched a guy do "U" turn and come right in behind us. As we put the trolling motor in the water this guy plows right by us withing casting distance between us and the shore. Whoever you were in the ZX250 w/ a 300 thanks for showing me what an @#@hole looks like.
#2. Watched a guy in a blue/silver Bass Cat come flying through the timber in the same spot like it was a race course. Not sure how this guy made it back there without a stump through the hull. Pretty smart move considering there were already ten boats that had fished through the water he needed to get to in such a hurry. I love fishing tournaments, but seeing discourteous fishermen like this makes me want to stop.
WORD!!

I FISHED THE CHAMPS TOURNAMENT AND CAUGHT PLENTY OF FISH ALL DAY, SHALLOW EARLY AND THEN A LITTLE DEEPER LATER ON, ONLY PULLED 14.88LBS. I STAYED CLOSE TO THE RAMP BUT SAW PLENTY OF CRAZY MOVES BY OTHER BOATERS. TOURNAMENTS ARE FUN AND I LOVE COMPETING, BUT THERE ARE A FEW ANGLERS THAT GIVE US A BAD NAME BY THEIR ACTIONS OUT ON THE WATER. THE SAD THING IS THEY DON'T EVEN THINK THEY ARE DOING ANYTHING WRONG.

I never get within casting distance of another boat with the trolling motor in the water, much less on full plane. Gotta make you wonder if some of those guys just get a twisted kick out of $*it like that. Probably dont catch many fish either.

Yeah, it's a real shame when someone sees you catch a fish as they are racing by and whips the boat around, giving his partner whiplash and pulls right up by you and tries to cast to the same spot. You're right stc, they didn't get 1 single bite. LOL I also had a guy last year on Belton see my partner and I both hook into fish and when the wind blew us back just a bit while getting the hooks out he turned the trolling motor on high straight over and dropped a marker right on top of the spot and let the wind push his boat right back toward us. These clowns have gotta go. Time to start reporting them as unsportsmanlike behavior. If they get DQ'ed they won't be able to fish BC anymore. hmm...

If they are legitamitly going by do you want them on full plane or to slow down? I have a little boat, Alumacraft.
But I have heard that some anglers get mad when a boat going by slows down because it pushes a bigger wave than it would have if it would have stayed on plane.

Personally, I would rather them not "go by" me 40 feet away at all, no matter the speed.

Same schmitt happened Sunday during the Federation; got to where I was fishing and had two boats on top of me within 10 minutes ... one guy was "nice" enough to idle by me but the second guy was on plane and shut down right in front of me. 26,000+ surface acres and they have to fish right beside ya; i'll never figure that out.
