I have great compression ,new plugs, new reeds, new fuel lines off the tree and so forth.Got started today but wont idle or stay running more than 30 seconds the first time then worst and so on.
I have two srew plugs on both sides of the carbs, but the manual only shows one plug on each side. How do I tune these carbs?

What year and horsepower? step-by-step, carb needle valve adjustments: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=167352Fuel line holding pressure? Tank vent clear? When it shuts down...are the carb bowls full or empty? Sounds kinda like improperly set floats.

With a weak fuel pump you usually see the line lose pressure. But 30 seconds is about enough time for it to burn up the gas that you pumped into the carbs when you primed the line. If the float valves are set too high, or stick shut, it can starve for gas without the bulb going soft. Generally if the pump needs rebuilding, you can keep it running by pumping the primer bulb when it starts to sputter. If pumping the bulb has no effect, then the pump is most likely good.
Ok, I believe that motor has fixed jets, no adjustments needed. Four screw plugs total, one upper and one lower for each side, right?
Have you had any work done on it recently?

Looked at them? Check to see if all 4 are firing and if they are Get 2 carb kits and make shure the carbs are clean and blow out every hole you can find. Clean and install a fuel pump kit while your at it. Reassemble to specs
