Does anyone know anything about the TXU power plant lake in Trinidad. I drove all around that thing trying to get on it. Supposedly they used to let people fish it but it was locked up like Fort Knox. Unless I couldnt find the right entrance. Will they let people fish it?

Thanks,
Lumpy

The plant is seasonal which means it only runs in the summer. They used to let plant retirees fish in the discharge canal but not the lake plus the water was so polutted you couldn't eat the fish.

I grew up fishing there! Great times - good memories... My grandparents lived in Trinidad and we had family that were TP&L employees. We used to have our family reunions on the property in the cabins they had there. I can remember trot lining and wade fishing all over the place on that lake.

I remember a new plant manager came in and he shut us down on fishing from within the plant. We still would go and fish the #2 and #3 bridge when we would go spend time with my granddad.

Back then ( and I'm talking early to mid 80's), we would eat a bunch of fish out of that lake. I don't remember any pollution at all, in fact, it was always pretty clean!

Doc,

I bet we know some of the same people. My granddad's last name was Miller. Lots of family was in Trinidad at one time - their last names were Fleming and Stanfield. They were the ones that were TP&L guys. Some still work for TXU currently. Small world!
