I have a 1999 Johnson 225 ocean pro Oil injeced. Boat has run great last 6 to 7 outings. Running xd 30 oil & champion plugs. Symptoms:
Last night, crusing across the lake boat just bogged down and stalled. Got it re fired and ran to my fishing hole at 4500 rpms and boat stalled @ idle. Fished for a while and apon refire, struggled to keep running at idle, had to keep in neutral and trottle advanced. Rpms were eratic. put in gear and stall. Boat sat for a while and finialy got it in gear & Made it back to ramp at only 1700 rpms. Anything higer would stall the boat. At home on motor flush, engine started fine, ran for a few minutes, then started to miss. Shortly after that overheat alarm sounded and light came on. Engine did rev down. (SLOW)
Observations: Seems like the carbs and entire engine have excess amount of oil coating the motor. Air box was coated with an oil film. Fuel filter was checked and seemed to be clear. WHITE wire plug behind fuel pump/vro seemed to have a wire harness connector possibly comming loose.( vaccum switch) Spark plugs were wet with oil.
Questions: Could the power pack be stuck in SLOW mode? Could this be an issue with the vaccum switch? Is the motor running on quick start? Could this be a fuel volume problem? Faulty power pack?
Any help would be appreciated!

I think I now have this problem under control. Did a few test and determined # 1, 3 5 were down....checked shifter switch and found it was shorted causing the powepack to shut down those cylinders. unplugged harness a wow!!! my power is back! Will install new switch tomorrow. thanks for your help.
