Hey guys,
I have my boat in my back yard and there are quite a few alley cats that I have seen in my boat. Besides the 870 express what is the best way to deter cats away from the inside of your boat. The are living under my deck and I am trying to think of a humane way to get rid of them. Any advice would be appreciated. And feel free to say Smith and Wesson.....stuff like that because it sure is funny.

My boat stayes covered but I have been known to give a few cats a small sting in the ars with rubber pellets. After a few times, they don't come around much anymore.

We accidentally exported a cat to the lake under the console of the boat. My wife was backing the boat off of the trailer. I had unhooked everything and backed in and floated the boat off. When she first hit the crank, out from under the console pops the cat, and it jumped out into the lake about 25 yards from shore. Cats can swim. To answer your question, live trap them and relocate them, either to the local animal control, or to the bottom of the lake of your choice. A pellet gun will in fact cleanly dispatch a caged cat, should it come to that. Allegedly, if you shoot a cat inside a trap that you might have carried into your storm cellar, nobody can hear you doing the dirty work

22 shorts work really well..
Honestly, you may want to throw a few moth balls under the console. Or wait till your neighbor isn't home and put an open can of tuna fish under his console, so that way the cats go to his boat and leave yours alone.

fire crackers usually work for us, if not the first time, throw them a little closer and they will work the second time

I had a long haired cat get in my boat all the time. The hair was all over the carpet. I bought 2 of those magnum rat traps, that just about break your fingers if you happen to trip it. Don't really know for sure if that is what caused that cat to disapear but I never saw it again after I set it a few times. I would tip it with some bacon or sandwich meat. I also drilled a hole and place a rope on it so the little buggar wouldn't run off with it, just incase he got nabbed. I can only imagine what that cat looked like after setting it off.

Spray of white vinegar will make them run ... they HATE that smell. Also non-toxic to you, bioldegradable etc. We use a mix of vinegar & water to train our cats on certain 'no-no' things.
