'87 Mercury 35hp. Does anyone know what these two screws are? Look like postive/negative terminals of some sort...

Awesome, thanks! Why would that ground get so hot it'd melt the wire?

Where is the warning horn, any way to test?

So should I connect the red lead going out by the battery to the positive terminal?

that looks like the harness to the auto blend oil injection system. If you are still using that system it is recommended that you diable it and mix your gas. the warn horn is mounted either in the control box or if the boat has flush mount controls the horn will be in behind the console

when in doubt TRIM IT OUT!

Hmm, no auto blend system on this motor that I'm aware of. The guy I just bought it from mixed his gas. Any tell tale signs it has an auto blend?

Turns out there's a purple wire in that same sleeve as well, it loops back to the front of the power head somewhere, I haven't traced it all the way yet. It too is cut off on the battery end of things.

You guys are right, it's a mercury 35 Oil Injection outboard, but the injection system isn't connected or being used. The guy I bought it from has always just mixed his gas.

Is there anything I should check to make sure it's been disabled properly?
