Wood Ducks, Black-bellied and Fulvous Tree Ducks...it's their common habit and nesting habitat. Hooded mergansers will also light/nest in tree cavities.

never seen that before.. was in South Dakota in december and actually saw over 50 pheasants in trees about 20ft high.. that was wierd too

That's why you see wood duck boxes all over the lakes now, a wood duck must have a hollow tree to nest in, since they are becoming harder for the ducks to find, the wwod duck was in danger until someone invented the wood duck box. works like a champ, I have two in front of my house with females in both! Baby ducks of any kind are fun to watch.
