I'm wanting to give Sure Shot punch bait a try. I have really liked DK and have never had a shut out using it, but as I've read in another post, I too have gotten the occasional "bad jar". Is it like the DK original? I'd sure like to hear about it from some users.
thanks
CJ

I haven't bought any Sure Shot in about a year and a half because I'm still working my way through a gallon (along with 2 gallons of 2 other baits). Before then the only variation I noticed was that some batches had big pieces of dried shad and some didn't. I actually got a few gar and turtles on those shad chunks. DK wraps on a hook tighter, especially when you grab it with your (gloved) hand and give it a good squeeze. Another bait that stays on a hook well is JPigg, and it catches fish, too.

I was wanting to try some of Marv's. I have about 1/2 pint of DK's garlic and I can attest it did work and sometimes even better than shad. I was just leary about getting any more DK's with all the bad talk about their latest batch. I'd hate buying that stuff then having to toss it.

I used Sure-shot back when i used to use punch bait. You can catch a lot of fish on it if they are there. One of the main differences I have seen between Sure-shot and DK is I tend to catch more blue cats on Sure shot. DK seems to be a channel cat magnet. I couldn't get much of a blue bite on DK. Since I switched to fresh cut, I catch more and better fish. Punch bait drives me nuts with all the little fish peckin at it all the time. I have caught a few big blues on Sure shot though. Just not as many as fresh cut.

Thanks for the posts. I'm thinking I'll order me a gallon and give it a try. I use the punch bait when fishing for eaters and have only caught channels on it. It seems you just can't beat a cut bluegill head or shad for bringing in the blues cats.

I second Freeman- sure shot is the only punch bait to use. I'm on my my 3rd gallon since December. If your not getting bit on sure shot, there aren't any fish there!!

I use mostly Big Marv's but also keep a couple gallons of Sure Shot. There are times that you can switch bait and they will pick up. Either one I have caught some nice blues. Biggest on punch bait this year has been 12 lbs. But a lot of nice eating fish.
