Not a realtor ... I'm a critical care RN and live about 75 miles from the south end of the lake in East Texas. I prefer to fish Rayburn more than TB though because it is closer and the bassin is a bit better. The 2 lakes are 20 miles apart at their closest.

Isolated ... from what? You say you might not like that resort feel ... well? I would think living on a lake front requires great outdoor oppurtunity and TB or Amistad seem like the best bets in Texas to me. Isolation does that ... you see wildlife and fish populations do better where there are generally less people. Fork would be an exception(fishery) as catch and release is a biggee and Texas P&W regulates the snot out of it.

There was another thread about 3 weeks ago and I outlined all the pros and cons I could think of on TB... it just seems like a lot better deal than some of the more crowded ponds closer to DFW. This board is about 60%-70% DFW area based posters and a lot of them never look outside their box! Check out the prices and see what your $$$$ buys you! I have!

You could probably get a great deal on Pure Oil lake right
now. The water level is a bit low however. http://www.vanzandtnewspapers.com/news/127/ARTICLE/4860/2008-01-03.html

good luck

That makes me feel ill. I caught one of the biggest bass of my life not 50' from that spot on the dam. I was 14 and it was a hot early June morning and I pitched a grape worm into a pile of rip rap that lined the dam. 9 pounds 11 ounces. I still have the mount. Sorry no replicas back in those days. By the way NICE BACKYARD.

I agree with your point on population density. It just seems that some lakes can hold the same amount of people/development and maintain a more resident feel rather than a resort feel. As far as TB goes the price is definately right. I'm concerned with access to a larger city (healthcare, culture, family).
Can't you understand that I want it all! And Cheap.
