Went spider rigging at Ray Bob today, trolled at the East end of the dam off the points. Had 16 keepers and probably 10-15 throw backs in water 30-36', 2 cranks off the bottom. The funny thing is the story I'm going to tell you is a true story, you may not think so but it is...only have 2 bass fishermen as witnesses. I thought I was hung, I picked up and it started pulling. I reeled up 5 other poles, moved my trolling seat, reached in my rod box, got my net out - this all took about 15 minutes. I finally got him to the top, netted him with one hand and pulled him over in the boat. The biggest flat head catfish I've ever seen. I had him in the floor of the boat for about 20 minutes and saw 2 bass fishermen. I asked them if they had a set of scales and they did. It bottomed out a set of 50 lb scales, I'd say he was close to 60 lbs. I asked the bass fishermen if they wanted him because he wouldn't fit in my live well, they said "No" and I released him to be caught another day. I caught him on a 10' ProAngler and 10 lb. clear blue Stren line. A great day to be on the water. The water temperature at the dam is still 49 degrees.

Want me to make ya sick? The official lake record flathead is only 37 lbs.
No fish is too good for the grease.

nice report- bet the cat was fun
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Brent I charge $200 for a 1/2 day guide trip (1 or 2 people), I furnish everything, clean fish at the end of the day and bag them up. As far as having a record on catfish it wouldn't be nearly as important as having a crappie record for me on Ray Roberts, besides that it's to hard to take them to a certified scales. And I know a lot of my friends have caught bigger ones than 37 lbs. on slabs while they were sand bass fishing on Ray Roberts.
Stucky76, it was caught on a minnow...that's all I spider rig with.

I bet that was a cluster trying to reel up the other lines and trying to get the net out!

He's a fool for letting that fish go. Twice as good as Crappie IMHO!
George,
Luke (9 year old) had a 40# up to the boat. I could quite get him in the net and he went under the boat and broke off! Luke started crying and I almost did.... I did catch a nice Bass on a worm pitching it in those Button Willows!
