When I tie on a bait that has a split ring do I need to use a loop knot?

You don't need a loop knot, the purpose of the split ring is to allow the bait to work freely, which would be the reason for a loop knot if a bait didn't have a split ring.

Most any knot that you go thru line tie or split-ring twice is good. You need to watch where you cinch line to on the split-ring

the Best knot and one of the easiest to tie even in darkness is the uni knot!!!It can be used to tie any thing you put on your line ,from lures and sinkers to flies and other lines even to your reels.ALso if tied right it can retain 90% to 100% of the lines strength....I use it for every thing

every cast is a step closer to hooking the big one......Keep on fishing
