we caught em chunking chartruse crappie nibbles under the trees just north of the island. we would put the nibble below a cork and cast under the trees and let the current drift it down. best if you can find a deep hole up next to the bank.

fire ban...... no propane or natural fire at all in the park.
Whites are running heavy up to the water fall... 1 mile before the park's boat ramp. Must have boat.
27 females and 14 males on minnows and chart rooster tails.
I am guessing this weekend into next week the bass will make thier way to the park's island and back toward the primitive camping. They usually hold for about two weeks.
Fish away from other fisherman. Heavy presure is slowing the bite in good holes.
Good luck and see you there

Is the water deep enough to get a 18' bass boat or ski boat in there? Or would I need to bring my small boat?
Shut up and fish!

It is plenty deep to launch that boat at the park.
Fishing and Hunting are not everything, they are the only things!!!!!!!!!

I was there two weeks ago and caught 5 in about 30 from the bank using copper and silver superduper. 2 were really small and 3 others were close to 10". Plan to brave the cold this weekend.

Just spoke to park personnel - they're getting some rain but expect the burn ban to continue unless quite a bit more falls. Still no open fires (stoves, heaters, etc).
Said the fishing is good with some limits coming off the sand banks.
Looking for cold weather tonight & Friday night.
Anyone planning on going this weekend?

It is plenty deep to launch that boat at the park. I appreciate that info. I'm going to try and get up in a couple of weeks.
Shut up and fish!

Hope you have a wonderfull weekend. I remember... it was beautiful out there in the AMs. Used to camp there when the "Lemons" family used to own the land a long time ago. My family is from Lampasas. I'm in Austin these days. Good luck with the fishing. Keep us posted.
Shut up and fish!
