I had a trip with 2 guys and one of their girlfriend, and in the middle of the trip one guy accused the other of sleeping with his girlfriend. They were fighting when I dropped them off on the dock.

fishing trip at tawakoni.
25 years ago about.
my brother and me were sitting in the boat rigging lures at sunrise. we were pulled up to the bank with the front of the boat beached. it was a very remote area, with huge oaks everywhere on the shore. we were using an old broken off stump right by the boat to hang lures on while we were rigging. i would guess the the stump was 4 ft tall, as big around as a fuel drum, and 6 inches away from the boat. we had used it for this many times, and caught lots of hybrids there.
now it gets wierd.
we had sat back for just a few seconds, and out of nowhere comes the biggest owl i have ever seen. still to this day. that friggin owl seemed 4 ft tall.
anyway, it landed on top of the stump. this bird is 6 feet from my face and 2 feet from my brother. we were absolutely motionless, and actually a little freaked out by this guy. his head was the size of a soccer ball, and his talons were at least an inch long and just a few feet away. this bird sat there for at least 30 seconds, turning his head like a turret and scanning 360 degrees. in this time frame he looked me and my brother straight in the eye several times. it was the most incredible thing ive ever seen still to this day. he flew away without incedent or any interaction with us.
one other crazy thing ive seen was a gull that had impaled himself onto a sharp broken branch on a stickup out in the middle of the lake.
and lastly, my nephew and his friend went out in a john boat to rescue a very large pelican that was caught in some fishing line about 100 yds offshore. they did release, it but it took 10 minutes, and that bird beat the living hell out of them in the proccess. watched the whole thing and nearly made myself sick laughing at them. they came back in looking like they had just fought a herd of badgers.

That would probably be the time I actually caught fish . The other strange thing was one time after launching my boat I was idleing back up to the courtesy dock to pick up my partner, this was before daybreak, and I heard a thump on the deck of my boat, I went forward and there was a LMB about 1# or so flopping on the deck of my boat . I've got a CC and thought that was pretty high to jump.

My grandfather would take me to Port Aransas for a week every Summer when I was a kid and even after I was married. He was very particular about his boat and fishing gear. One morning, we were about to leave the dock (Woody's I think). He had checked and rechecked for everything we would need for the day. I was in the boat and he was stepping in the boat and missed. He went all the way to the bottom and all I could see was his straw hat floating on the surface of the water. Need I tell you that the rest of the day was not very enjoyable? I miss that man. This year he would have been 110 years old.

Tawakoni - saw a small flat bottom boat checking jug lines near finger point. It had a childs playpen in the front of the boat.
Also at Tawakoni, I saw a small pontoon plane practice landing out near the dam.

One fall day a group of a dozen or so boats were working a school of hybrids on the surface and NO one trolled thru the middle of the school. I could not believe it. Actually , a black helicopter buzzed a group of us fishing just off the point at chimney creek. The pilot came back and turned it on its side so he could get a look at what we were doing. I guess he just wanted to see what baits we were throwing, He was that close. Mo

I was fishing at West Lakes Club in east Texas and I was up in the very head of the lake where the Little Sandy Creek comes into it. I was bass fishing a texas riggeed worm around some saw grass when right beside the boat all these bubbles started coming up and then water started boiling up in the bubbles. Then this huge mass of lily pad roots, grass and mud came up from the bottom. It kind a gave a weird feeling and then it started to slowly turn around spinning. When it had turned a full 180 degrees toward me it began to move in my direction. It was only about 20' from my boat. Of course I was watching it very closly by this time. When it got closer to the boat I could see two eyes looking out of it. Okay I'm thinking "Aliens" right...well it began to kind of shake and this huge Aligator clawed its way out of the mass of trash off the bottom. His head was at least 3 to 4 foot long never saw his full length because I was giving him some room. I figured if that Gator was hungry I might be on the menu so I fired up my little bass boat and shot out of there!
