lol.. the best part is when you step on the ramp in the water and you just start sliding deeper-- nothing you can do except grab the jewels and prepare for a dip.. That algae gets slick as snot!

I was at Highport once and came back from a fishing trip one evening and saw a strange bouy floating in the middle of the ramp. Within a couple of minutes a tow truck showed up with a diver and a crowd of spectators. Not one of the spectators had actually seen the car go in and we did not know whether or not there was anyone in it. When they towed it out the back bumper was dragging the ramp because of the water in the trunk.

I have had it the other way around. Showed up at the two lane boat ramp on a weekday afternoon after work. Figured to get in a couple of hours before dark.
Boat mechanic had his truck parked in one lane, he just left it there while he tested the boat he was working on.
Other lane, neither driver could back the boat in. Couldn't get it started, etc.. Asked if I could help and they declined.
I respooled/rigged 4 rods while waiting. Had been meaning to do it for a while. Only got to fish for an hour before dark. I didn't say a word, just sat there glaring.
What's the solution in this instance?

I love it when the drunk redneck guy is in the boat yelling at his wife who is trying to back the truck and empty trailer down the ramp to the water...for the fifth time. Cracks me up everytime.

had that happen to a friend, except the boat was only half off the trailer. The dude driving the pickup had the trailer in the water to deep, boat owner waved for him to pull up,driver thinks hes saying GO-- so he pulls out and drags the bottom of the boat over the top of ramp---- Trip to Skeeter..

I was on ray roberts about five years ago and saw something that makes me laugh everytime i think about it. i saw a lady driving a 350 powerstroke back her husband down the boat ramp. As he backed off the trailer she threw the truck and drive and raced up the boat ramp. The only problem was the wench strap was still hooked to the boat and she pulled the boat up the ramp and threw the parking lot and actually drove all the way to her parking spot. She did not realize anything was wrong when atleast 20 people were yelling at her as she drove by. The funniest part of this entire story was seeing her face when she jumped out of the truck and looked back to see her husband sitting in the boat in the parking lot behind her. I think he nearly had a heart attack because he was so freaked out. He did not even yell at her he was in such shock. That has got to be at the top of the list as one of the funniest boat ramp stories.

Here is another good one. A buddy of mine has a house boat in his boat slip in the corner of a marina which faces a public boat ramp. One night this guy was yelling at the old lady becuase she was on her 5th try of backing up the boat around 6 pm. He was really screaming and cussing at her because we were about 30-40 yards and could hear him clearly. She finally gave him the good old Texas howdy, one finger salute and took off in the truck with the trailer. We were there all night fishing and left about 2 am. and she still had not returned. He was just sitting in his boat steaming. Pretty funny sight to see.

We were fishing a Cast event on PK several years ago. One guy was trying to tell his wife how to load the boat. She was trying to get it centered and pushed up. He started SCREAMING at her.
She finally backed the boat off the trailer came at it again, and throttled it! The boat went over the bow stop and stopped just short of being in the bed of the truck.
Bow stop was almost all the way through the hull of the boat at this time!
We just stood there shaking our heads, offered some help, which they refused, loaded up and left.
And the entire way back was.. OMG

unfortunately my story involves me looking like a *******. it was late at night, we were crappie fishing. Went to the ramp, my buddy went and got the truck and I sat in he boat waiting. He got down there, we loaded the boat up, and everything was fine. I was planning on sitting in the boat as we pulled up the ramp. About half way up the ramp I notice the front end of the boat coming up, I did not even have time to yell stop before that boat was sliding off the back of the trailer. We had the winch hooked up, but it did not stick, so there I sat in my boat half way up the ramp.

BarryG, Where are your pictures from? They remind me of my fishing days in Wisconsin. I recall backing slowly and carefully down the ramp one early and cold March morning at a very crowded launch. The ramp was quite steep and icy. As soon as my tires hit the ice, I began a rapid desent backwards down the ramp! My gonads instantly jumped to my throat! My first thought was that I would plow into the boat that just launched directly behind me. My second thought was of the icy cold water I was about to experience. Luckily, when my rear tires hit the water line, I stopped! I sat and trembeled for a while, but managed to regain my composure and finish the task at hand. I'll never forget that day!
