Looking at the Citica or is the money worth it for the Curado? I am open to just about anything. Just stepping up from the BPS green monsters. Even have a Quantum Accurist pt, but not much room to get your fingers to the line for those few ooops. What advise can you give to balance money and quality???

The money is worth it all the way up the Shimano product line. If I were buying right now, I'd look long and hard at a Core.

i have used the curado and i have the citica, get the citica, the citca is basically the same reel except the curado has 1 more bearing, so the curado is a little smoother but not much.

I have been told that the new Citica is better than the old Curados. I have been using the old Curados for over 10 years and find them totally reliable.

Did a comparison on Citica and Curado part numbers, most are the same.

Curado's I know had bearings before and Citica's bushings. Don't know about the new versions. I bought my son Citica's years ago at the same time I got Curado's. He is now using my Curado's. The Citica's have worn out.

Current Citica's have 4 Ball Bearings + 1 Roller bearing for 200's, 1 Ball Bearings + 1 Roller bearing for 100's. Curado's have 5 Ball Bearings + 1 Roller bearing for 200's & 300's and 4 Ball Bearings + 1 Roller bearing for 100's.
I picked up a older Citica that had 1 spool bearing and 1 spool bearing. Picked up some ABEC-5's to replace those and it is as smooth or smoother than any of my new Citica's and Curado. It's not so much the number of bearings as the quality of the bearings. Been thinking of getting ABEC-5's for all my reels, for spool bearings anyway.
