According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife annual survey, which measures pounds of game fish per acre of lake, White Rock Lake has been a great place for fishing over the last several years. Anglers can catch large-mouth bass, crappie, and channel catfish. ”It’s an excellent fishery,” says Charles Boseman, operations supervisor for the White Rock Lake Park. ”As an inner-city lake, it gets very little pressure from fishing.” That means more–and bigger–fish than you’ll find in some of North Texas’ more popular lakes. And the lake’s fish are safe to eat. Recent water quality studies have shown no pollution in White Rock Lake.
in order to go fishing at White Rock Lake, you should purchase a fishing license from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Licenses are available at area Wal-Marts and most tackle stores

I've tried going for bass on the main lake and have gotten skunked on a few tries, so I've not been very impressed.
John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

I grew up close to White Rock Lake. As a matter of fact, that's where I learned to fish. I'd advise anyone wanting to fish there to be very careful. I hear that the creek on the north end is where you can find some of the best fishing but that's also where the vagrants hang out.

Ive recently fished that creek and never saw a single bum or anyone that looked suspicious.
then again I walk around in Deep Ellum and Downtown Dallas so I am used to the bums. I always carry my knife and I never act scared.

WRL is a SUPER bass lake. all sizes! My biggest from wrl, although not registered, just caught and released, on a hand held de-liar was right at 10. Admittedly, came a few years ago, but caught it on a June morning, walking the bank with a Berkley Power Worm, 7-inches, and it was a blue fleck. Texas rigged, with a 3/16th oz bullet weight. Right in front of the Hunt Mansion, no more than 5 ft from the bank!
Over the years have caught too many bass to count, and some hefty ones mixed in with alot of yearlings!

I have also caught quite a few nice bass from WR. Last summer I was going there almost every weekend and while I would occasionally blank I usually caught a few nice bass, catfish, crappie...
I caught a 9 pound channel cat on a chartruse spinnerbait last year. That was a first for me!

Biggest lmb that I have seen was caught near the spillway last summer. Yet another time I fished and did not catch. Guess that is why it is called fishing and not catching. Female 6lbs, on yellow h&h. weighed on a cheap B.P.S. scale.

I've fished that lake since 1998 and always from the bank. Have caught Bass, Crappie, Sand Bass, Carp, a few turtles & Cats. One of my favorite lakes to fish!
