Great start, NateDogg! I think you are right, good fishing weather is gonna be here too soon for you to finish it right this season... but of course you will soon discover that you are never "finished". I added some Bee-Ready rod holders to mine last week and it was "finished" 2 years ago! Keep us posted on your progress.

Its a 14' Game Fisher by Sears. The top width is 53" across, and the flooring is 48" across.

NateDogg, just a little imput on the JB weld. I have sears boat just like yours that I have a trolling motor attached to and the JB weld still cracked around the rivets and the seam I put it on. It seams like the boat flexs a little to much for it. I used a silcone to fix the problems since then and it seams to be working a little better. Just a thought, looks great though, keep it up!

Thanks swillis! I know the JB Weld is only a temp fix for now. If you read my earlier posts, I plan next fall/winter to completely strip the boat again, have it sand blasted to bare aluminum and then use the jon boat repair stuff from Cabelas. I've talked to many guys who've used it and swear by the stuff. It won't give like JBW as you've described. I didn't do it this time because Cabelas has it on back order right now, and I want to get to fishing this spring. I'll try the silicone if anything cracks this spring/summer though. Good suggestion!

Well the boat has been flipped back over now and I'm ready to sand the inside, prime and paint. I've been waiting on this "wonderful" weather we've had lately to give me a break to do so. I'll have some pictures up again tomorrow.

Alrighty, so I sanded the inside on Saturday and spent most of the day Sunday priming and painting the inside of the boat. I'm extremely excited now as with a few trailer repairs to be made (new lights and building a box frame to support the newer weight being added) I can finally begin my actual bass jon conversion! It took quite a bit of work to prep this boat as its age is a bit older and taken up my time and money doing this, but it will be worth it in the end and I can't wait!

Sanded and ready (you can see the outside done and the inside sanded)

2/3's done with priming

Finished priming...starting to look like a real boat now!

I have had a similar problem with the rivets. i attempeted several types of repairs. 1. You can hammer the rivets tight (using 2 hammers) if they are not to bad. 2. Drill them out if needed, replace missing rivets with with 1/4-20 bolts and lock washers. 3. Cover heads with JB Weld or some other epoxy, some epoxy poped off over time. 4. I thick you can order replacement rivets.

I tried 1, 2, 3 with varying succes. What I did do that seemed to work for me was I bought a gallon of truck bed liner paint from Walmart, and brushed it on the bottom on the outside. It was ugly as hell(green boat, black coating) but flexed and stopped it from leaking. also seems to have quieted it down some. You may be able to paint this stuff, bass proshops sells something similar in different colors.

I might go back and do that this coming winter, but for now the JB Weld will have to do. Cost and timeliness is my factors right now... I've got the itch SO bad to get back on the water soon!
