TX requires a 360 degree light at night for kayaks... I bought a 2 D-cell portable stern light on a steel rod about 24" long. Do yall think it will be good enough for the lakes/coast so that no one runs me over? I'll try to take/post pics if I can later... Right now trying to figure out how to put it on my Castaway without making any "mods"

Should be good enough for TP&W since I have a stern light on a steel rod about 24" long on my Ranger. Not sure if thats the only thing I would trust though. If I am out on the lake at night I will definately have a power beam lite in addition to make sure other boats see me. Of course, I wont be in the middle of the lake either.

Yep, I have a waterproof LED lantern, and a Waterproof 6V Flashlight... and a white LED headlamp... but that is usually covered mostly by any bug that is within a mile of me. Why is it they don't stay around the lantern or the stern light? Durn bugs

I use a AA pelican flashlight on a piece of PVC tubing. Shove it in one of the crate rode holders, and go.
I took a plastic milk jug and cleaned it out real good and cut it up. Take a piece of a flat section and roll it up into a cone so it fits over the flashlight. Fasten with tape or whatever.
