All of a sudden i have no navigation lights at all on my boat, i'm thinking i must have a short somewhere because even the lights on my dash fail to work, i can reset the breaker swith and they work for a second then pop goes the breaker again.
I'm sure it is a wirering short somewhere but seeking some advice on where to start? From the lights themself or from the breaker?

Thanks

Ray

do you have your light in the holder when they trip the breake. If so try it without then pluged in. If it still trips then you need to trace the wires out from the plugs back to the switch.

make sure your wingnuts are tight on your battery, and make sure you are getting a good conection to the terminals there. This happened to me last September at Ray Bob. I was tracing all the wiring under my console and finally tried the battery terminals.

First place to check is the anchor light bulb. It can short in the bulb holder and have seen where someone put the wrong bulb in it causing a short. Battery connections are not going to cause the breaker to trip. Next would be to check the wiring at both receptacals, then wiring to switch and then switch itself. Some switches are lighted and can cause a short. Reminds me of question on test for aircraft mechanic license nearly 40 years ago. Showed a electric schematic with a tripped breaker and asked whats wrong. I knew not to answer tripped breaker. Good Luck
