I am looking to buy a 2008 Xpress 18 ft 90hp yamaha from a local dealer, his asking price is $14,900. Is this a good price,is this a good boat and is this a good motor?i sent an E-mail to Bazztex because I think he had one.I think the motor is a 3 cylinder.Does anyone have issues with this type of motor?Would this pkg be cheaper in the Dallas or Houston area?I live in the Lufkin area

Call West marine in Mesquite to get a quote. I know X-press has several trim packages to choose from and motor options.

Had a friend with a 17 footer ... he had to get it welded several times under warranty after about a year. Same bracing in the front of the boat kept breaking. He finally sold it after 3 repairs.

I do think it will be underpowered with a 90hp.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I have a friend that has one at the factory right now. This is the second time he has had to have it welded, and it's less than two years old. The first time I think they took three months to get it back to him. I would look at something else.

I have a friend who had a 19' with a 200 Merc. He used it for 7 years with on problems. Another friend has an 18' with a 115 Yamaha it lifts like a glass boat rides well and runs in the low 50s. 5 years with no problem.

I think that price is very reasonable but they have some room so pick a number and make them an offer.

Contact Butch and Best West at West Boats. They can shoot you straight. They didn't get to be the number 2 Xpress sales in the Nation for nothing. Which 18' is it. My son has a '06 X17 with a 115 4-stroke on it. This one has a 95" beam and is very stable. He may be looking to sell it, if you are interested. We fish more out of XD21 since he is back home. He is looking to eventually buy an X19.

as far as aluminum boats go, you can't go wrong with an Xpress.. plus aluminum boats=a lot less to worry about with shallow water motor is a litle smaller than I would want, but i've never run an aluminum boat so I can't say for sure, but it would definitely get you wherever you want to go in ample time.

I have an X-54, 17 ft with a 75 horse 4 stroke Yamaha.

It's 3 years old and I have had no issues with the hull at all, and I've beat the carp out of it.

Butch and Beth at West boats are great people and there service is great.

I do wish I would maxed the HP, but that's just my need for speed.

The price sounds good as well.

Good fishing.

Love mine - 2nd time buyer (2008 model) - 90 Yamaha one this SV18CC will do 40mph.
The price you quoted is very fare. I do believe for this model, 90 is the max rating.
