Tejas is on the SanG above Lake Georgetown. Access is off of HWY 29 just a couple of miles east of 183.

I think access to tejas is a little easier off 3405, then take CR 258 'till you literally run into it. You can park in the park until night time, then gate warden locks the gate. There are some places to park outside, and you can walk in. See this map for better instructions:

http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=lake+georgetown&sll=30.687231,-97.839603&sspn=0.069973,0.160675&ie=UTF8&ll=30.679406,-97.834969&spn=0.069979,0.160675&z=13&iwloc=addr

It's right where CR 258 crosses the river. On the map it looks like a road follows the river on down, and there used to be one, but it's long gone. You can follow the trail down to where that bridge used to cross, and from what I hear people have some good luck there.

hey HL,

I would show up to the DQ but my schedule is kinda spotty with kids stuff and honey-dos on the weekend. If I'm out on the SG and not in a boat, I'll prob have a UT baseball cap on and I usually take a red camelback backpack with me. I'm a pretty big guy, 6'4" and 270 or so. I might be fly fishing, but lately i've really enjoyed using ultra-light spinners. Say hi if you see someone meeting that description. I usually say hello to just about everyone I come across out there.

I've never caught a crappie out there while fishing for whites! Is the key to use minners? Is it rare to catch them on your typical jig?

sometimes i use a jig under a cork and pop it and i think that increases my odds of getting a crappie hit as well.

how deep is the spot right now where guys wade across to the gravel bar?

I went to Tejas last weekend. The flooding last year washed a bunch of gravel down and deposited it just above the submerged bridge. The water is so shallow there that the white bass won't be able to go further upstream. You will have to hike a long way downstream if you want to do any good at Tejas, but maybe the fish will be really concentrated below the obstruction. I posted a picture here: http://www.texasflyreport.com/forums/thread.aspx?id=111732

Where exactly is the gravel bar at Circleville that people keep talking about?

Thanks. Where's the second sand bar?

I heard there was one at the downstream end of the trail. Some guy was camped on the bank there, so I didn't get a chance to explore it.

go downstream until the river makes a sharp bend left and that's where the 2nd sandbar is. probably about a 10-15 minute walk

anybody know how deep the wade is below the steps?
anybody else considering braving the saturday crowds tomorrow?

It is only 2 to 3 feet below the steps. Very easy to get across. Fished this afternoon for about three hours and got 2 short males. Tried every combination I could come up with. I only saw three other fish caught. One was legal. Couple of guys trying to net bait and none was to be found. Probably explains why the fish are not there yet.

Fished from about 2:00 to 5:30, and started down from the steps. Caught a keeper white right away, and a nice sized largemouth right after. The rest of day was very slow only had 2 more small whites, and a sunfish. fished pretty much everywhere, went all the up far passed the steps, and all the way down passed the second gravel bar.
