Came across these while surfing some sites. Appear to be a new release february 2008. Some say another SHIMANO ploy to only make money, some say they are working well on or near the bottom. Seems most of the testing was west coast. Definitely different, I think I will buy a couple for this spring. I know that no fish has seen them yet off Freeport. Your thoughts. I had the opportunity to fish these jigs last oct on the GEM trip out of Fouchon La. Was not impressed . Caught more fish on other jigs.

Yep, John, that's what I've been told, but I still may buy a couple I think Kil was succesful w/ an ealier variation by Japanese co (Fisherman?) and had snapper & grouper success on GEM-6 w/ Tomeny. as a matter of fact, I think theres some mention of them in them GEM-6 article in loisiana sportsman or something. looks inviting, but I wanna see real #'s not typical shimano HYPE, which they seem to be real good at. -B

Hey Jeff! Actually, we field tested the Medai jig for a Japanese mfr as well as some prototypes of our own out of Freeport. The Japanese Mfr wanted us to be the distributor for the U.S. We couldn't get bit during our testing. They sure look cool though! Here's a link that Kil posted about them with some feedback from the East Coast guys: Noreast Lucanus Jigs
