I've got a little 8 foot bass buster that i want to register. is there a website that might be able to tell me the cost of something like that?

Once I have it registered, can you take it to any public lake to fish? What type of safety equipment would be required?

thanks alot

I do not know the rules where your at but here as long as you do not have a motor on it Outboard/trolling you do not have to get it registered you can fish anywhere.

You will need a Life Jacket for each person in the boat.

If you have a Trolling motor it needs to be registered .You do not need a fire extinguisher or throw cushion the boat needs to be 16ft or longer to require those.

If you wanna paddle it all the you need is a life jacket to go anywhere you want.

TPWD has all that info. I just registered my Pelican; it was a little bit of a headache because it came from a pawn shop and TPWD wanted all kinds of documentation and title transfers. I finally had them when I told them it never had a motor on it before and the guy at the pawn shop signed a form (314 I think) that is called Affidavit if fact.
They want a title or mfg. statement of origin. It gets silly at times. At any rate, they want you to pay the tax unless you can prove you already did............I think that's 6.25% and then the registration should be about 30 bucks. My total was 58 bucks; 30 for registration and 18 for tax since I left my receipt at the house and couldn't prove I'd already paid tax. By the time I got to that part, I was so frustrated that I just paid it to get the deal done.

Sorry to be so long-winded; all the info. you need is at TPWD website under boat ownership.
