 Why does my motor have a 13spline shaft and not a 15spline?

Seems like most of the props that I find for my '98 Johnson 115 have 15 spline hubs, but mine has a 13 spline shaft. Why is that? Its making it hard for me to find a decent prop (stainless) in the size that I want...for the price I want to pay. I think a 14"x19p would work perfect...but every one that I find has 15 splines. Seems that most of the 13 spline props are the smaller ones...made for much smaller motors, like a 50hp.
What gives?

OMC is a 13 spline propshaft. Mercury and Yamaha are 15.
You can put Mercury Trophy Plus and Tempest Plus props on by just putting in an Evinrude hub. Several other props have the same system. Some you have to rehub to fit your motor.

Yeah...seems like the 115's are the cut-off...anything above that is a 15 spline on the Johnsons. I have seen lots of props that claim to be for a 115h Johnson V4...but they have 15 splines. Maybe they are being advertised incorrectly?

they are being advertised incorrectly.
the tempest will NOT fit your engine.
another option would be a laserII, with flo-torq. hub assy' for the omc.
best fit is the v4Raker. 20p for your boat.

I have a new OMC/Viper ss 14X19 For $250.00 Ohhhhhhhhh...man...first baby on the way, or I'd be all over that! Give me a few months...maybe for next season! Thanks!!!
