Just let it sit on bottom.
I fish with one pole at a time and leave a little bit of slack in the line... When they pick it up and you see the line start to tighten, set the hook. I don't tightline it completely because they seem to drop the bait many times when they feel the resistance.

Carolina Rig and Corn works well.

Also, I post results and tips on fishing the community lakes in my area. Most recent Trout Stocking was in the City of McKinney. Check out the link below. If you do a keyword search on trout, should be able to get an idea of what was out there this past season.

Trout activity at Towne Lake in McKinney remains steady. Caught limit in about 45" using the Carolina Rigged Corn fished on the bottom. Pictures posted in the link below.

A buddy just finished limiting out at Towne Lake at Noon today! Trout were about 8" to 10" in size.

Unfortunately, he mentioned the Cormorant have returned. So, better fish when the opportunity presents itself before the birds clean out the Trout.

Hit it hard today for a few hours.
I limited out with (1)12"+ and the other 4 over 10".
Same story with my girlfriend, one over 12" and the other 4 over 10"
Dad did pretty good with 4 in the 10" range and 1 a little smaller.
I will be back out there tomorrow around 11:30-Noon.
Come say hi and as always, I will provide the powerbait, salmon eggs, and corn!
Again, I am the big white guy with a purple tackle box and a blue ice chest.

I will be out there on Friday (2-29-08) around 11:30 and will stay till my limit is caught.
FREE powerbait to anyone who shows up to fish.
I will be the big white guy in a red button-up shirt with that "just woke up" hairstyle!

I usually hit the Canyon Lake tailrace when they stock trout and the best bait that I have used is Kraft Garlic Cheese. Get my limit in about 30 minutes. Pick it up at HEB comes like a little cheese log, green label. An ultralight, 2 small split shots, #16 treble hook and your good to go. Just bring some crackers and spread some of that cheese for when you need a snack.

Fished Friday night at Towne Lake in McKinney for Trout. Bite was slow. Tried different tactics before finally getting strikes using bread on the bottom but without a weight.

Caught 4 Trout ranging from 8.5" to 10". Posted pictures in the link below.

Fished Towne Lake this afternoon. Caught 4 Trout; Fishing partner caught 3. Trout action was steady but fish seemed to be finicky, ignoring corn and hitting bread. Picture posted in the link below.
