They can't resist a topwater. I grew up in LA used to fish a place called Gum Bayou in the Pearl River. It was mostly covered up with a seedy film from the gum trees. Every once in a while you'd accidentally snag one on a scum frog if they had a good ambush point. We would take the little ones (two foot or less) and rubber band their mouth shut and throw them in each others boats. Lol... Brings back memories

Were you using your zoom or was it not afraid of you? It looks as if it is heading straight for you at close range. If it wasn't afraid of you someone has been feeding them. Those are the scariest ones. Some morons think it's cool to throw them donuts and what-not. In actuality all it makes them is comfortable around people. That's when people get attacked.

A buddy was down on choke two weeks ago and took some photos of the lizards also, one of which looks to be the same as your. However they took some photos of a couple that were much longer and fatter. He has a Ranger 522 and he said it was longer than his boat.

We went bowfishing there two years ago and saw 16 different gators the first night. You can get pretty close with an airboat. LOL.

Dang, those are some big lizards. Glad we don't have them in my fishin' hole. Definitely make you think before leanin' too far over the side to lip a bass won't it?
