Run the color line 60% and up

Sens as high as you can stand it

Chart slow when boat is slow fast when boat is motored

Ping slow when boat is slow fast when boat is motored

I like to set the upper and lower limits to see certain parts of the water column. You'll have to experiment. For example one lake I fish it is UL 10 LL 80 while another UL 5 LL 60.

Surface clarity is something that has to be checked on the water like sens. It changes.

Noise rejection off most of the time. Sometimes it is necessary to get rid of some screen clutter.

What ever you prefer on the alarms. I keep all of mine turned off. I also turn off all that pop up stuff.

Only thing I change on the Sonar on Lowrance units is Surface Clarity (from low to High).

Sometimes in winter (cold water when fish are stuck to the bottom) I Zoom in a little on the bottom instead of looking at the whole water colume.

But everything else seems to work as they have the defaults. They are pretty good at knowing what the defaults should be for your best results.

My recomendation start with the defaults. READ THE BOOK. And then READ THE BOOK AGAIN. Get use to it as is and change only if you see a reason to. You can always hit the reset all defaults. Also when you install new software the unit will reset to factory defaults.

Enjoy it.
