Well like usual if anything can go wrong it will be me or my fishing buddy. This time it was me. While trimming the brail lines I must have clipped one of them. I went to practice and noticed after a couple throws that one was loose. I found it cut where it ties onto the bottom of the net. I am going to buy some 80 LB Mono and try and repair the brail line. This is a new 6 ft Betts net that hasn't been in the water yet. Has anyone tried to repair on before. Any suggestions before I try.

Many, many, times. If you are going to use a castnet, things like this are going to happen. Just use the remaining brails as an example, ie, knot..length, size etc. It'll work just fine.

You bet you can repair it. I still use the one I bought back in 1978. It has been restrung so many times I have lost count. But it does show the wear alot with all the holes I made by catching rocks and limbs with it and put some good holes in it. This is why I always take 2 throw nets with me when I go out. Just in case one gets damaged. As far as repairing them after you do it a couple of times, it becomes an easy task to do.

It turned out not to be that hard to repair. It took longer to get the 80 lb mono than to repair the brail line. I made sure everything was the same length I tied it off and then used a couple of leader sleves to clamp the two line together and superglued them also, trimmed the excess making sure I didn't cut the line again. Worked perfect. Now watch out Mister Shad the catfish are hungry.

I nailed some nails up in my garage and hang my nets on those when they need repaired. Makes it much easier.
When a net gets beyond repair, save it for parts for later ones.
