Anybody wanna suggest a rod similar to the scrape rod, or should I just jump on the bandwagon?
Thanks,
CM

Falcon is building a new rod of this type called "El Toro". It is a 9-173 and is a extreme heavy action rod.

Castaway also had one at the boat show, could go offshore with this thing but incredibly light.

I've heard about the grass master by castaway. Like the design, too. Was it the skeleton series? Looks nice, and I'm loyal to castaway..just didn't know if anyone has had experience with it.

Chad,
Give Scott at Castaway a call (936.582.1677) and he will know what you are looking for. You will not be disappointed at the power to weight ratio on this rod!

I called and talked to the lady up front. I'm just trying to find a place here that carries it BEFORE I decide to buy it.
What does Scott do at Castaway? I have a family member that used to have class at SHSU with the guy back when it was being run out of the garage, I think Keith Odom was his name?
Been a loyal customer for years.

Scott is in charge of production. Keith was running the company at one point but no longer works there.

Go with the scrape rod. You will not be disappointed. I used mine last weekend @ Falcon and was throwing a 3/4 oz football jig. Worked great for that also. The Tip eye was just redesigned to keep the braid from wrapping around it. Only rod I have found that can turn a huge fish down deep or in thick brush and maintain the extremely high level of sensitivity need to feel the thump on the fall. Shef

Jump on the bandwagon. I tried others and found that it affected my fishing mainly because I was wishing I had bought a scrape.....lol. No disappointments now.

Exploring a couple of options. Scott at Castaway was nice enough to send me a Grass Master to check out, purchase if I like. But, something tells me it's more like the old East Texas Grass Rake, not enough arse for me.
I'll also be eyeballing Terry Oldhams new rod, and will consider it as well. Aside from that, the original is still in the race.

You know that I am going to recommend the Power Tackle rod. Schedule a tourney/fishing trip with me and you can try it out. Or, just git in yor wagen and come down here and lookie at it! How many chances are you going to have to buy the best?

Chad,
If the Grassmaster is not the right rod, then I hope you wait till Scott has the Scrape rod for you to try. I would be interested in what you think of that new rod. Even if you go with another rod, keep in touch so you can try the Castaway later and compare to what you do go with.

I may not do anything until I get to see their version. I've heard it's a stick, and very light.
McCloud- Don't tempt me...lol. I've seen it, but just a little too rich for my blood...but, I can be pursuaded.
