New to the forum thanks to Stephen H finding us on a dead site (WMI.org) and suggesting we come here. Much better site, gracias stephen...

Arrived at the south jetty around 7am and the wind was humping. Front was coming soon so we only had about an hour and a half to fish. Waves were crashing over the jetty so we were forced to fish very close to the beach (between the 1st and 2nd sand bar). Caught two nice slots 24"+, one keeper flounder, and one 40" bull caught by sarah. All caught on live shrimp.

Fished Friday and Saturday morning on the south jetty. Water was a dark brown on Friday but managed 5 nice reds the smallest around 23" and the largest pushing 27". Saturday was very slow. Water clarity was a little better but full of trash and weed. Couldn't keep the baits clean. Found a small area of cleaner water on the other side of the main cut and pulled out one nice red around 25" and two gaspergoos. All in all a great weekend for fishing with the weather and a nice stringer for friday. Its a great/relaxing time of year to fish when we don't have to deal with all of the croaker, sand trout, lady fish, and piggy perch tearing up our baits and all of the redfish are good sized. All fish caught on live shrimp in about 6 feet of water.

Thanks. I had to stay by our cooler to make sure it didn't get washed over so she fought it completely by herself without any guidance at all. It was freezing cold that day and the waves literally drenched us from head to toe. Its nice to find a girl that enjoys the action and truly appreciates the experience. In retrospect we had no business being out there that day but it turned out to be a good/amusing.

F and S, how far out on the jetty were you walking out? Also, do you think artificial baits could work? I basically live right next to east beach and have been wanting try my luck at some saltwater fishing. Thanks

Med student at UTMB? I graduated from TAMUG. Anywhere from between the first and second sandbars to where the flat paved portion ends is where we fish. The fish are moving along the wall, it depends more of what the water looks like. I'd just keep going until you find light to medium brown clean water. We don't fish with artificials this time of year but i'm sure dragging a 3" gulp shrimp close to the rocks would work. good luck.

hey guys i dont really do to much saltwater fishing since i live in College Station about 2hrs away from galvaston maybe? i am going to galvaston around the 15th of next month to hang out with my gf and a couple of friends but i would like to fish during the time that i am there. Is there any advice as to where to go or whats really biteing right now? last time i went was maybe a year ago in like mid april maybe and we went to the pier in galvaston. the water was really clear and we caught some specks and some spanish mac's do any of those run any time soon?
