You can buy a 12 volt 8 amp battery with a charger that is 3"X4"x6" at Cabelas or Gander Mountain. It really good and you can run other things on it but barely notice it's in your Kayak.

I use a caster 12.5 as well. I used a through the hull mount for my cuda 168, have a pair of scotty rod holders a milk crate and a soft side cooler that I usually take. I also have a rudder for mine. I picked it up at sun and ski when they were 500.00 with rudder (close-out).
I use an anchor the way hambone describes (honestly a brick works fine too) but I'd suggest losing the scotty anchor lock and installing an anchor trolley so you control how you hang. This also works great for drift chutes...

Hambone is right but you may want to experiment with finding the right size wire/zip tie as if you have to pull to hard to break it you'll dump too. Make sure you carry some extras so when you have to break it you can re-rig right on the water.

Go to "Interstate Batteries" and you can pick up a lead acid (sealed)12 volt battery for under $20. I can go 3 or 4 times three or 4 hours at a time before it needs to be recharged. Their battery is very small

If you have a home alarm system, all you need is a 2nd battery and just swap them out when one gets low, the alarm system will do the charging for you.
