Just wanting to ask everyone what everyone thinks what reel is better? The Abu Garcia Revo's or the Quantum Energy? Thinking about buying several reels in the same brand. In all ratios. 7 to 1. 6.3 to 1 and also 5 to 1. I have several Curado Super Frees......but I see most pros throwing either Abu Or Quantum. Must be a reason behind it. smile Just asking for yalls opinions.

Haven't used the energys but I love my Revos. No 5.1 yet but I here they are coming soon.

the reason most of those pros you see throwing those is that quantum and abu sponser more fishermen than anyone. i'm not dissing either of these brands, but these pros use these reels because they get paid to and get them for free.

I've been very impressed with the Revos I have. Haven't tried the Quantum line though. Abu has been around for a long time and is known for quality reels.

I'm not sponsored by anybody but my wife.

If you are going to get a Revo get a STX or the Inshore--stay away from the Premier. Don't get me wrong it's a great $75 reel problem is it costs $260.

Yeah, I don't know why the Premier cost more and it feels so much more cheaper. It looks like it has less features that the Revo S.

I just swapped all my Calcutta's for Revo STX's. They are exceptional!

Trust me try the inshore--it has the same type of bearings as the premier but 1 more of them and I would think that it would be more durable because it is made for the salt

Doesn't sound like there are many Quantum guys out there. I fish with Quantum reels but have not got into the Energys or the Tourist yet. I am looking into it. I love the magnetic braking system that is on these reels. I hear that on the Energys and Tourist that it is only better.

Just FYI, The Energy and Tourist is the same reel just that the Energy line has a few less bearings, but it is still SMOOTH! Same braking system.

If you ever need parts,Abu is the way to go,simply call there # get an educated, intelligent person on the line with no waiting.Call Quantum, you get an answering machine. You leave messages over and over and NEVER get a phone call back. The REvo Premier,by the way won F&S top reel picks for the year.Stx won it last year.See march issue F&S.

Speaking only for myself...

I find that Shimano and Daiwa is the way to go.

I've got four excellent Abu Morrums, but I got them, new, on e-bay from Sweden, and they are Swedish made. They were designed and marketed to Japan, and Europe, but not North America. Again great reels.

My problem with the Revos in that they're not made in Sweden. If it says Abu, AFAIC, it needs to be made in Sweden.

Do your Daiwas and Shimanos have to be made in Japan or will Malaysia do? How do you feel about rods? Do you have any that were rolled in China?
