The Boys and I are headed to Venice to fish the Lump one day but may also have a chance to do a bit of wade fishing. Does anyone know of an area we can drive to and wade or bank fish for trout and reds?

All help appreciated.

Mmm I have waded off of Tidewater Road a few times in various spots, most near the canals further south. Not much luck but it COLD those days..

I'd charter a boat and fish Breton Island for big reds, that's what everyone said last time we were down there.

If you go a little north to Buras we had good luck fishing the channel and near a few of the marina's on the East side.

In most of the Delta, you will sink up to your eyeballs in mud.
To quote Capt Dauzat, " stay in the #$#%ing boat, nothing good
is going to happen to you outside the boat" smile
there is world class trout and redfishing to be had down there.
think about taking an extra day and do it right.

Mo, Thats valueable information. Guess we will hire a guide if we fish for trout. We hope to fish the Lump only but if we get weathered out we don't want to watch Tv all day.

BE Careful!!! Venice is just like Corpus. If the locals aren't in the water, there's a reason. The locals only swim in one little area around Ft. Jackson. I lived there for 3 years, the whole area is thick with alligators and snakes. I've seen alligators out in Mississippi Canyon. ( About 10 miles offshore)
