I am thinking about getting a Lowrance Ifinder H2O, and was wondering how close that model says it will get you to your mark?

My cheap Etrex is about 70 feet.

Can I expect closer with a different models?

Thanks

I have both a hand held and one on my depth finder. I hardly ever use my hand held anymore. The one on my depth finder is so much easier to use. You should get with within 10 ft with some models. If I was you I would think about a combo depth finder it will be well worth it. My 2 cents.

I am exactly opposite of Cliff. I have a GPS on both of my console graphs and I use my handheld 99% of the time.

I like to take it up front and view it while I'm on the trolling motor too. That way I can keep my boat positioned over the exact are I'm pulling fish out of without having to think too much.

Plus it goes with me when I'm on someone else's boat too....rather they know it or not. grin

With WAAS, 10' is easily attainable.

I have a hand held GPS.... Garmin.... had it for 4 - 5 years and I love it....
Go fishing with someone else.. put it in your pocket...
Think I gave $99.95... a friend has a new Garmin and it is more accurate.... easy to operate...
My 2 cents..... woot

I have the Garmin 60CSx handheld and really like it. I take it fishing where it is placed in a Garmin mount I purchased separately. I've been in rough water and it stays put.

I take it on auto trips too, and it does a great job navigating. I did a Google Earth for the area I was pheasant hunting near the end of Jan in the Okla panhandle. It brought me right to the places I marked.

I just wish the screen was larger for these aging eyes. Of course, then it wouldn't be a handheld.

Just think through your plans to use it (where, what purpose, ease of operation, etc.) and choose accordingly.

Make sure it has WAAS and it should be pretty close. I think the new H2o has WAAS. Other choice will be color or monochromatic

I use the H20C with Navionics hot maps. I also purchased map create 7 so when we go out of town I down load the area we will be in so I can look up POI. It's portable, water proof and fairly accurate.

I HAVE A GARMIN E-TREK WITH OUT THE COLOR SCREEN.THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM UPGRADED TO A GARMIN WITH A LITTLE BIT BIGGER SCREEN AND COLOR.THE COLOR MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WOLRD. IT IS MUCH EASIER TO SEE. SPEND THE EXTRA AND GET A COLOR SCREEN ITS WORTH IT.

WAAS enabled is the key. It will get you to within a boat length.
