I'm putting out some brushpiles and I need to figure out which hand held GPS unit to buy...It will be for lakes in the Central Texas Area and I'm not sure which unit is the best...Can someone advise which hand held GPS unit is the best and why....The max I would like to spend is around 350.00. Also--does any of the units have any mapping software like navionics?
thanks!

I have a I Finder H20C I really do like it... it is easy to read and learn how to use, they also sell some videos that teach ya. I bought a holder and glued it on the dash of my truck and use the handheld when we travel. If you are putting out brush piles and you have a boat the hand helds can get in the way while you are driving unless you have it mounted somehow...holding them up to read the smaller faces and driving the boat at the same time is dangerous. I recomend the holders or a big GPS unit for the boat instead of the handheld unless it is going to get double duty..such as hunting, traveling and boating.

I have a I Finder H2O C as well. It works really well and is easy to use. They have portable mounts at BPS that allows me to use it while driving and also while at the front fishing.

I have an Lowrance iFinder h2oc as well and I really like it. It does take the navionics cards, and I have also got a RAM mount on my boat for it and it is rock solid. Dont have any problems reading it now, but RAM also makes a magnifier accessory for it that attatches to the mount. I have been very pleased with the whole set up

ditto on the H2O; only I bought mine before the color model. Use on the road more now that the boat has a GPS.

I have a Lowrance model that puts the H20 to shameits the Lowrance I-Finder Expedition C (color). It accepts the awesome Navionics chips available todayan all around awesome unit. You can also get their mapping software and use it to download county roads, points of interesteverything you may need while traveling. I use mine with a Ram Mount car mounting system everywhere I go. Its the very best bang for the buck!

ditto the H20c. I have a ram mount on my boat as well. Not meaning to hijack the post but, has anyone used the Lowrance "Fishing Hot Spots" mmc maps? If so, do they compare favorably with the Navionics? Their less expensive than the Navionics. Just wondering.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

The contour lines aren't as close together on the Lowrance as on the Navionics. I personally prefer the Lowrance on a hand-held. Plus, you can download a ton of maps for free from Lowrance here: http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Mapping/Enhanced-Lake-Maps/

The "Fishing Hot Spots" mmc has maps that you can't download such as O.H. Ivie which is out here in this neck of the woods. I have used MapCreate to download the map to mu PC but, can't successfully download them to my generic mmc.

Before buying the Navionics or any other card be sure the lakes you fish are on it---not all are. I have good luck with a plain old H2O and the Lowrance Free Enhanced Maps.

I use my MP3 player to download maps to a MMC card to use in my H2O and it works great.
