A new report is going around about a 23 foot 1 inch gator killed by TP&WD between athens and palestine. If I knew how to post the picture I would.

The post states that it's not true. Another example of photoshop manipulation.

Sorry, but I got that picture about 6 months ago. Don't know the story though.

According to that website link, it isn't a photoshop manip, its a real pic of a real gator that is 13ft 1in long. It looks bigger because of the angle, kinda like some of you guys make your 5lb bass look like a 15lber wink

I still say if a gator that size is on lake lewisville.....

Then we need to stay off lake lewisville, because 23 foot gators are what "BAD Movies" are made about (ie. 'Gator', 'Lake Placid' I believe smile ).

It's possible but I still have a hard time believing there is no manipulation. The shadows of the cars Vs. guy don't appear to be coming from the same light source (sun). If the guy is walking just next to the gator, which I believe he is ( again shadows) , the gator does measure ~ 23 ft. who_knows

Anybody on this forum, other than me, been around Lake Maner or Eagle Lake (both private) in south Brazoria county, TX? Oodles of warm weather, oodles of nutria and oodles of gators - big gators.

BTW, big gators eat smaller gators. Is it real who_knows .

Two gators ran into one another in the backend of Caney Creek and started talkin'.

Gator 1: Say, you look mighty paltry if you don't mind me sayin'.

Gator 2: Well, that's cause you're probably older than me.

Gator 1: I was hatched out 8 years ago and trapped by the TP&W this spring. Thirteen feet and a half and 750 lbs. is what they came up with.

Gator 2: Whaaaa???? I was hatched 8 years ago, too. How'd you get twice as big as me? You eating something different?

Gator 1: Well, I particularly like tube fishermen and there's a lot of them out here ya know.

Gator 2: Hey, I eat tube fishermen, too. I should be as big as you!

Gator 1: Well, it may be your stalk that's the problem. See, I get one located then I pull me up some lily pads and swim under the water, then I raise up reaaaalllll slow like under the lily pads and repeat it until I get real close behind him, then I dive under and come up and grab him.

Gator 2: Hey, I do exactly the same thing with the lily pads and all. Why ain't I as big as you?

Gator 1: You keep your eyes open when you grab him?

Gator 2: No. I close them so he can't gouge my eyes.

Gator 1: Well, right there's your problem. You ain't gettin' nuttin' but poop.

If you drive around Port Arthur right now, you can see lots of big gators in any of the canals that run through and around the city. If you dirve slowly along Hwy 73 in the morning going east from Hwy 82 to Hwy 69, you will be shocked how many gators are right there. We used to run up Taylor Bayou from 73 to Pine Tree Lodge in my 14 foot john boat, and we would count the gators. I've counted more that 35 in that stretch before. I've seen some in the 14 foot range (unnerving in a johnboat). I've even been swimming and realized they had been there all along, just watching (REALLY UNNERVING). The gators that are showing up in the Metromess will disappear as soon as we have a real north Texas winter. A week long freeze will kill them all the way back to Kurth Lake between Rayburn and Lufkin, and they only survive there because it is heated by the lumber mill.
