Hi Everyone,

Went to Lake Conroe this Saturday, arrived around 2:30 p.m. and started fishing brush piles in 24 ft. of water with jigs and minnows and nothing. Then went up into the creek (10 ft of water)channel and slowly worked my way around the outskirts of the channel as well as in the channel and nothing. Not sure what I am doing wrong or not doing correctly that is impacting my fishing. Does anyone on here fish Lake Conroe with any success?

Thanks,

Wes

I fish lake Conroe every time I go to Rayburn. It reminds me of lake Conroe back in the 70's when it was a great lake. Lake Conroe is depressing to me when I see it now...so I don't go there any more.

My son and I went up to Conroe on Saturday and fished the pilings under 1097. We fished from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and did not lose a minnow. Serveral boats under the bridge and we did not see a crappie caught. This is the first time that I was totally "skunked". Usually do fair to good. The last time I was up was on November 30 and I caught about 30 with 19 good keepers up to 15 inches.

This past Saturday was rough on me too. I fished north of 1097 along the river channel and only scratched out 4 black crappie. They were all good sized fish, 1.25-1.50 lbs but, nothing spectacular.

I was spider rigging and only caught those 4 plus some yellow bass and a couple of whites.

It was a slow day for all the folks I spoke with as well.
