I am from Emporia, KS. but I live in McKinney TX. now. I used to fish Kahola Lake west of Emporia grew up living on it. Pretty darn good bass lake. You need to run down into OK for some good fishing or better yet come on down to TX for the big ones. Make the days count don't count the days.

Worked Chanute, Coffeyville, and all the surrounding towns last summer after the floods. Met a guy who likes crappie fishing and we traded a pheasant trip on their farm in Kinsley for a crappie trip to Fork. Think we'll both be happy. Nice folks in KS for sure... thumb

I lived in Wichita for many years. Used to fish Butler County, Big Hill, Wilson, ElDorado and Grand. I like it here though...better fishing and more days per year on the water.

I lived in Derby, fished ElDorado, Wolf Creek, Chase County State fishing lake, Council Grove.
I think the fishing is better here but there are a lot of great folks in Kansas.

How come y'all USED to be from Kansas? Oh, warmer weather, bigger bass, and more places to fish.....never mind. Hey med, there are only a couple of others from Kansas that post on here and a couple from Moo. This spring maybe we can get together over at Big Hill sometime.

I grew up in Coffeyville and fished the same waters with my grandpa - "Elk City, Big Hill, Chetopa, MG County Lake, and the Verdigris + a few ponds."

My uncle used to live in a big house with a pool right across from MG County Lake. I went to Kansas State and fished some lakes and creeks up there with my room mates. Fished a few Okie lakes too...

We have a second home in NE Kansas, Waterville, to be exact, which is 50 mi N. of Manhattan and South of Marysville. The closest SE KS lake I have fished is Lyon State fishing lake, just North of Emporia. It's small but has pretty decent LM fishing. Also, they have an automatic food/pellet dispenser and you should see the catfish that swarm around it when it comes on.
I have mainly fished Milford Lake, North of Junction City, and also Wilson Lake, West of Salina. When I am up there I often fish with my 85 year old Winter Texan friend, named Wally Peterson. You may have heard of him, he is pretty well known in Kansas. He lives in Lindsborg, and fishes club tournaments still, and does quite well, especially catching bigger bass. (He said that Big Hill was a really good lake.) He has a bassboat and right now he is getting ready to go spend a week fishing in Sugar Lake, Mexico. Quite a guy - my inspiration.

Have relatives in Lindsborg, McPherson and Canton area. Used to hit the small lake at the Maxwell Game Preserve.

Met some real nice folks from that area, while working the Claremore, OK Tackle Show.

I grew up out west in Meade. Fished Meade State Lake, Clark County, and Crooked Creek. I fished a ABA event at Big Hill last year. Great group and a well run event. I miss home out on the lone prairie but the work, weather, and fishing are better in TX. Bad thing is when the grandkids caught a limit of Sandies last summer they just ain't happy jerkin bullheads out of Crooked Creek anymore. Can't wait to get them into some Stripers this summer.

Big Hill is a good lake. Closest thing to Fork they have up there. I've caught several 6's out of there which is pretty good in that area. The smallmouth population is always a sleeper there. Have seen several 5 to 6 pounders come out of there. My best is a 5 1/2.

I have a friend who is stationed at Ft. Riley and fishes Milford a lot - hasn't caught anything spectacular there yet - says it gets rough when the wind howls which is often.

Big Hill can be good. The smallies can be fun and there are some pretty good large mouth in it. Very little vegitation though. The closest thing to Fork around here is Bone Creek. It's a fairly new lake with tons of timber and grass. Still great for #'s and can catch some good ones as well. By the way, Milford sucks for LM. He needs to fish some of the small state lakes around there. Not any pressure and a lot better fishing.
