What size and brand of spinning reel is the best for all around fishing,(dropshot, shakey head,light traps and jerkbaits) any input would be appreciated.

I like my Daiwa Tierra 2500 but would like a Sol to add to the arsenal! Im a Daiwa fan!

I use a Shimano Stradic 2500 and a Sahara 2500 then a Sahara 1500 on my ultralight.

For bass fishing I'd go along with the 2500 size. Both Shimano, and Daiwa makes very good reels. I think that below the $100 price point that Shimano is better, above $100 I think the edge goes to Daiwa, though the new Stradic is an exception.

Take a look at an Okuma for the money they make a good reel.

I have a 2500 Symetre on a 7' rod. I also have been hearing good things about the US Reels. SO you might want to check them out.

8 pound P-Line Premium on a stradic 1000 is my bread and butter for a 1/8 oz. bullet weight, 1/o hook tx rig(shaky head) and drop shot with size 1 and 2 daiichi drop shot hook.
