JP is loaded with LITTLE channels. I have only seen 2 channels in the 5# range come out of there.

yeah, the only ones that are nice are the ones swimming around the protected marina, that is until i am hiding in the bushes, lol. i did have a friend who casted into it and walked back to his car and waited til he got bit, then reeled them all the way to his car, good times. those are the only good ones i ever saw from there

They are there and I find them from time to time. Pool is a tough catfish lake to stay on them consistently in but don't let anyone tell you there are not a lot of good ones in there.
I have caught up to a dozen in the 20inch range at a time. I have done well in the creek channels near the bridge at times, on the rip rap of the damn and down by Britton Park in the channels.
My problem on Pool has always been staying on them, I find them for a week or two then gone. Tough lake but there are many good channel cats in that lake. There are tons of shad, a large mix of deep and shallow water, little pressure from people that really target the and tons of shad. Add to that no blue cats to compete with and you know they are there.
My best advice is chum, chum, chum. Every time I have found them that has been the key.

Jack's right. The fish are not consistant unless you fish the spawn or the heat of the summer (Aug-Sept). Other than these 4 months...it's tough to stay on the fish. Use chum...remember, your fishing for channel cats. Punch bait works best fished two ways: Corking in the Spring/Early Summer (spawn) and drop down fishing in 12-22ft of water in late summer. Here are some fish we've caught on Pool:

not at pool...wasting your time. Go 40 miles north to Lewisville, 50 miles north east to Lavon, 70 miles north east to Tawakoni or even 20 miles south east to Waxahachie and you'll have some fun!

Good advice Catsalsa I have also caught them on the dam past the spawn but only in the evening and only with chumming. I have done that from May when they are still spawning up till very late June.
Early when they are on the spawn with a bit of chumming you an pull them off the rip rap anytime during the day. Post spawn they seem to come back about 2 hours prior to dark and will hit good right up till dark.
Then by the very end of June to beginning of July they are are heading for that deep water. That is when you can find them in the creek channels. As for keeping on them into September if you can do that you have them better figured out then I do.
