I haven't been in years to this lake. My buddy swears up and down, we can catch some really good Slabs. The years that I went, we never did well. Neither of us have a boat, and he says we don't need one. Anyone catching yet???? Or does it get better in March and April???

Better in March and April....but really need a boat to get around the Island or out to the trees and structure.

Thomas will usually start a little later, as far as the spawn goes, and will last longer.....as late as early June.

I grew up on Thomas and still check in from time to time. The mud-red water is extremely slow to warm up since sunlight cannot penetrate so the spawn is later than some place like Brady Lake, for instance.
As for having a boat, the Tri-pod Island is good, but a kayak would put it in range. Also, many fish have been caught the last few years by wading and/or float tubes by fishing the stick-ups just west of the boat ramp by the dam.
Good luck. Jeff

I've gone out the last couple of weeks checking out the brush piles but haven't had much luck yet. High winds have kept the lake stired up though. Caught some good slabs out there last summer around Tri-pod. Won't be long so get the honey-do's done.

Fish Deep if you can find Deep (be a quess). JB is a lake that must be fished and I have not put enough time on the lake to know.
Sandwich Anyone Catching any of the Sacred Crappie out there???

Only talked to one guy, he's been catching some on the points east of the ramp. Slow. May be more fishing going on, but I haven't heard about it.
I dropped some major brushpiles right before deer season, but haven't even checked them. Been busy creek fishing.
