I suddenly have the fever for an 1860 jon boat. There are a lot of brands out there: grizzly, sea ark, alumacraft, war eagle, etc. Which 2 or 3 brands really stand out as great boats, or are they all about the same quality? I am going to be looking for an all welded, side console model. BTW, if anyone has a good used one they are thinking about selling, let me know. Also, I am estimating the total weight including trailer and motor as somewhere around 1500 pounds. A 6 cyl jeep wrangler should be able to tow this with no problems, right? Thanks for the help and advice.

I believe you are under estimating the weight of a rig this size. You are more likely to be around 2000 lbs. fully loaded.

Tommy is right. I run a 2005 G3 1860SC. I love it I might add, but once i get my decoys, layout blind, ice, accesories in there, i am closer to 1800 or so. that being said, I wouldnt recommend hauling it across the state, but across town or the hour or so to the lake, your jeep should be just fine. That is a nice sea ark he is selling. great multiuse floorplan. somebody should jump on it.

Yeah, it is a super clean boat. I just wish it had the rear platform instead of just a rear seat. I will be using it a lot for bowfishing and really need the large rear and front platforms.
