Looking for input for a Ray Roberts fishing trip this Feb/March. My buddy's getting married and we're gonna take our usual pre-wedding fishing trip. There will probably be 4-5 of us total. What kind of fishing will be any good the end of February, or early March? We aren't opposed to finding a guide, but $$ might be an issue.

Also, anyone recommend a pontoon rental place on Ray Roberts? We've got a boat, but it'll be tight with 5 guys, so we may look to rent one.

Thanks guys!

Catfishing should still be excellent, the sand bass should be starting up the creeks.

Try calling Ray Roberts Marina 940-458-7343 about the boat rental. I'm not sure if the rent boats or not.

There are plenty of excellent guides on RR- try checking out the fishing reports section and PM some of the guides about rates.

Dan,

As far as I know the Marina is the only place that rents boats for Roberts. They do have two or three different size pontoons for rent.

As far as the fishing. The blacks will be in pre-spawn mode and would be hard to fish for out of a pontoon. A good portion of the sandies will be starting to head to the creeks, but they can still be caught in open water on slabs. As 88 said the kitties should still be biting good, especially if you can bait out a hole. Roberts is turning into a really good cat lake.

The crappie will also be seeking the shallows in the backs of the creeks, but you may be able to find some on the many brush piles we have on the lake.

If you want some rates info, feel free to call me, or email me.

Good luck.

Dannie

Ideally yeah, guide would be awesome. But not many guides can do 5 guys, 4 even seems to be pushing it.

Dan:

Dannie could help all five of out with fellow guides that work with him - it would be well-worth a phone call.
