For what technique? I have 4 in my boat, and each one is different.

I bought a 7ft spinning combo from Bass Pro Shops three weeks ago. I've never bought a combo in my life, always shimano/falcon set ups- but for 39.95, I figured what the heck.I love it. Just dont know how long it will last. I'm not expecting much for 39.95, but so far so good. I've caught over 40 catfish on it already, using 30lb power pro and havent been able to tear it up yet

I've got a Shimano spinning reel on a Hendrix shaky head/drop-shot rod and I love the set-up.
I used braided line last year, but I'm trying 10# Vicious fluorocarbon this year.

6'6" - 7' M or ML with a fast action, medium sized spinning reel and some 10# fluorocarbon or 30# braid. Lots of brands to choose from depending on how much you want to spend.

I use 2 American Eagle Rods SXT series rods w/Shimano Spirex 4000 series reels. The rods are customs because I wanted more length than the regular models. Each are 7'2". One is a medium and the other is a medium heavy. I use them for shaky heads, drop shots, tubes, finesse jigs, and soft jerkbaits. The 4000 size reel really cuts down on line twist and increases my casting distance. I will add a little lighter outfit this year for some smaller dropshotting. There are some things I think a spinning outfit can do more easily than a baitcasting rig.

Triton, Check out this spinning reel created and patented by Doug Hannon, 'The Bass Professor". www.wavespinreel.com. It is guaranteed to manage line twist for you as well as to never bird-nest. I tried one (DH3000) on a drop shot rig at Lake Conroe a few weeks ago. I tried to make it bird-nest, loose line engaging the spool, reeled backwards, it never bird-nested. Is really smooth will cast above average distance. I was impressed and the price is not bad compared to comparable reels. John

The best (by far) spinning reel on the market is the Daiwa Sol. Its enclosed drag is protected by a gasket which keeps out grime and water to insure it works as smooth as silk each time. If you try it, youll find exactly what youre looking for!

I have 7 Shimano reels - 6 are spinning reels from ultralite up to my biggest Shimano, a Spirex 4000. I have bigger reels for saltwater but they are collecting dust since I hardly have the pleasure of hitting the saltwater. I have found that Shimano's cost more, but for my $$ they are definitely worth the extra price.

The best (by far) spinning reel on the market is the Daiwa Sol. Its enclosed drag is protected by a gasket which keeps out grime and water to insure it works as smooth as silk each time. If you try it, youll find exactly what youre looking for! The Sol is a great reel, no doubt about it, and I just flat out love the color. All that said, Daiwa also makes several other extremely nice spinning reels as well. If you do decide to go the Daiwa route make sure that you get one with the Airbail. Again the Sol is a VERY nice reel, but you're looking a a couple of C notes at least. There's a couple of very good Daiwa spinning reels that are lest costly than the Sol. The Tierra, and Advantage-A are both very good values in my opinion. Shimano has brought out several new models of spinning reels this year. There are several that bare inspection. These new reels are in the $100 -$250 price range though. Don't overlook Cabela's Prodigy spinning reels. They are made by Daiwa and are very nice, and a BIG plus is that you can catch them on sale for well under a hundred dollars. I consider these reels, when on sale, to be the best spinning reel value on the market. I've got a Prodigy 2000, and just flat out love the little beast. As for rods: I personally am using a St. Corix Avid 6'6" MLF for my shaky-head rod (I've got my Prodigy 2000 on this rod). I drop-shot with a St. Croix Avid 7'6" MLXF (I've got a St. Croix Avid 1500 spinning reel on this rod, this reel is also made by Daiwa). I also use these rods for fishing lighter weightless soft plastics. FWIW, TFP
Above all else hold these two things in the greatest of circumspection; government and self. YOLO=Schiefspiegler
