I need to get a good flipping rod, but i'm not looking to spend a lot of money on it, and also a good reel to put on it. Any suggestions?

The Shimano Castaic is just like the old super free's, with a flipping thumbar...plus, I've seen them as low as $119.

Not bad bang for your buck. No suggestions for an "affordable" flipping rod. Ya get whatcha pay for, I think.

I'd recommend a 7'2 American Rodsmith Team Series Magnum Grass Stick paired with a Shimano Citica 100. You can get the entire set up for less than $300 dollars and I guarantee you will love it and be able to get fish out of ANYTHING!

Falcon lowrider, take your pick at which one, and team daiwa advantage.

Bass Pro Rick Clunn (it is blue) it cost about 99 dollars. For the rod I would say the Falcon Cara or Lowrider. But if u can afford it buy u a waterloo pitching stick.

There's a pretty good thread "flipping docks" that you might find helpful. Not too many people differentiate between flipping and pitching. For a pitching rod, I like the Falcon 6-1610. I don't really do any traditional flipping, so have no recommendation for a flipping rod.

I have changed rods every time a new one comes out. Some I really like and others go back or to the closet. The ONLY rod I have never changed is my pitchin/flippin rod. And that is the Daiwa TDS 7'6" rod. It is perfect!

Falcon Lowrider 6-1610 and a Team Diawa Advantage reel. Each is reasonably priced and are very good products.

You need to buy as much as you can on the rod end. The most important thing is to buy lightweight stuff.

Check out the Dobyns line. I like them as much or more than Loomis. I use Team Diawa Zillions for all applications.

The new Falcon Cara T7 Amistad version may be one to look into. I will look closer as soon as they are out in stock. Its a little pricey though at around $170, may look into a Falcon lowrider, or an original falcon (around $100). If you can find them in stock right now, look into tha discontinued Falcon Cara, most academy's that still have them have a sale on them for around $100.

I am partial to Falcon if you havent noticed, I am not affilliated with them in any way, just believe in their rods.
