Best bet is to get yourself an umbrella net and head to your local creek. Find a still spot and drop it in. You can draw in the minnows with pieces of old bread or even corn meal. when you have quite a few over the net just jerk it up and voila, you should have all the ghost/glass minnows you can stand. You'll know they're ghost/glass minnows 'cause they're almost transparent and they'll have a dark stripe running down both sides. They run anywhere from 1.5" to 3" long.

inland silverside a.k.a. ghost minnow pick I took.

I will try the bread crumb trick during the day. Usually I'll use a dip net or umbrella net at night with lights to attrack the silversides.

These are great bait part of the time. I've been shoulder to shoulder with Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins wade fishing for whites and nobody is catching anything. We usually use live shad. We ran out one day and had some glass minnows left. Put one on and holy carp. One after the other.

Might want to try baby (small) crawdads as well - that's what some of the locals used below Tawakoni dam when nothing else worked.

We use to use pull seines at Texoma many years ago and catch them by the thousands. We night fished Sand Bass with them.

Impossible to keep alive so don't worry. They bite 'em anyway.

smokepole, a creek connected to a lake you are probably in luck in the spring and early summer. I find them using lights at night from the shore. However, seems like they are spookable and school in open water versus more than holding to structure.

Found an article in wikipedia.

Used them for years ,catching whites up the Brazos above Whitney.Seined the minnows on sandy points in Whitney.Put the minnow on a small jig head ,also used a small weighted bobber.
