I would like to say how much I appreciate all the info I have found on this forum and how helpful everyone is. I have read this forum for a while and finally registered.

Back to my topic, I was wondering if anyone knows if the boat ramp at the end of Peden Rd is open and if you are allowed to fish around the docks. I have a inflatable kayak and wanted to launch and fish there. A couple years ago, people fish along the rocks on the left side, but now there is a sign there not allowing anyone to cross over. I'm not sure if it is a safety hazard or what and if it only applies to that certain area. I remember it producing alot of crappie there and like to give it a shot. I can't afford to pay a parking fee at the marina next door everytime I want to fish for a couple of hours.

Also, what is the rule for fishing around docks? I know that the dock is owned by the marina, but what if you are in a boat? Can you fish around it or beside it if you're in a boat?

Thanks.

Silvia,

I am the owner of the marina next to the ramp at the end of Peden rd so I can answer your questions. First, the sign was put up by the Tarrant regional water district restricting access to the rock jetty. They had too many people out on the jetty and they had begun having problems and there was a liability issue. As for fishing form the kayak, you can fish along the rock jetty from the water and it is fine. You are also allowed to fish around the docks, you are just not allowed to park in the slips or get out of your boat onto the docks. The water is public domain so you are allowed to go anywhere the water is. There is no such thing as private water except for peopeles boat slips, whether in a marina or private dock. So please feel free to fish along those rocks and the docks and good luck to you. It has been a little slow since the drought, but it is starting to pick up a little. Good luck and God Bless.

Josh

Sylvia,

First would like to welcome you to TFF, as far as posting goes. What Josh said is the full truth, and as long as your not actually "entering" one of the slips we brushed, I think you'll find that all of us renting the row of slips that parallels the boat ramp are friendly and nice. I'm a tall guy who drives a black Honda Pilot, so if you see it parked just past the marina office, you'll know I'm there.

Feel free to say hello, or if I notice a lady in a kayak, I will too. We say hello to all the bass boaters that circle the place while most of us non-boaters who crappie fish our slips.

Fishing etiquette is everything, and from what I sense, your willingness to ask questions shows you're on board with that and we all appreciate it.

Good luck to you and maybe we'll chitter chatter one day about the "bite" going on around Lakeview Marina.

Take care and again, welcome.

Eric

Thanks little minnow for the info. I'm "in between" jobs right now so just trying to save a little money. What is the fee for parking and do you allow fishing from the docks for a fee? I remember when the crappie were biting a couple years ago, people were catching good size crappie with every cast. Maybe when the wind dies down I'll give it a shot.

Thanks.

Sylvia,

Totally understand the pocket book thing. It is $10 to launch a boat and park, but if you hava a kayak in a truck and no trailer then it is $5. We do not allow fishing from the docks except for people who have a slip. Several people have gone toegether and rented slips to fish out of them (Big Cat is one of them). They are jsut getting started. What you said is correct, we were covered up in crappie before, it has just been a little slow rev=covering from the drought. I am sure it will pick up a ton. You should have luck around the rocks and docks. If you have any other questions just ask. You will find a really freindly group of people here who are ready to help. Good luck.

Big_Cat,

Thanks for the welcome. I don't go to Eagle Mountain that often and did not even realize that the boat ramp was next to the same marina you guys were renting slips until I scrolled down and saw the posting. Don't worry about me going into the slips you guys are renting, I respect everyone's space and property. I live by that Golden Rule I learned in kindergarten. Nothing more annoying than someone coming to fish next to you and tangling your lines (i.e., Weatherford)! I bank fish for stripes, hybrids, and sand bass all the time and understand fishing etiquette. I fish more for the fun than the fridge. Nice to just relax on the lake sometimes. I have always night fished for crappie in deep water at Ray Roberts, but with gas prices these days, EM is a lot closer and kayaks don't use gas just muscle!

You might see a kayak there, but don't be shocked if you see a guy paddling it unless some lady stole my kayak, LOL! I know "Silvia" is a ladies name but it is also a Nissan (love my Japanese sports cars as much as the outdoors!), no offense taken though. I'm use to it by now. HAHA. If you see a blue Coleman inflatable kayak, that most likely will be me. I will definitely row by to say hi and see all the fish you guys will be catching! Good luck to all you guys, I've seen some nice slabs being taken out of there. Remember the line in Field of Dreams, "Build it and they will come". I think that applies to crappie also!

Little minnow, $5 is not a bad deal at all. Especially since I have seen the crappie that have come out of that area, not to mention I feel safer parking my car in the marina.

Again, good luck to everyone.

Silvia,

I hear ya about Weatherford and barges in general. No etiquette at all, especially when people let their kids run around like it's a DayCare Center and we're all suppose to be teaching them such etiquette. I have two of my own, and when they're out with me, they're under a short-leash when it comes to running around, instead of fishing.

As for relaxation, I couldn't agree more. My wife and many others just don't see what I get out of it, but I could write a book about the wonders of fun, relaxation, and just peace I get out of going out, even just for a few hours to enjoy nature.

As for the name thing, LOL, woooops! My bad and no bad intention for sure. Sorry about that.

Yell at us when you're around. Take care.

Great post people!!
And welcome Silvia.
My brother has a slip on EM, only been there once. I need to get the exact location. He always welcomes people to fish it. When I fished it, I got a chance to visit with some great people from the area. I know why he chose that lake to keep his boat.
Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, there are several different marinas and slips. We just sank the rest of natural brush this A.M after fishing first of course.

Only problem to note, was there was some bass tourney going on, about to start, and some of these guys I guess were using the courtesy slips closer in and getting on/off our dock and going in/out the door like it was nobody's business. They weren't rude or anything, but made a racket for about the first hour.

Anyway....
