I am getting a company truck but need something for the weekend hunting and fishing trips. I have heard that the 4.7 got poor fuel economy but I wasnt sure how poor. I have found a few deals on 4x4's with 4.7s.

What mpg do you stand guys get and what do you auto guys get please specify if you have a regular cab or quad cab.

My wife has a 4X2 Dodge Ram Qcab with the 4.7 and while it is a strong motor, you've heard right, they don't pass too many gas stations. I suspect my wife's gets about 12`13 around town and 17~18 on the road. My brother's 4X4 Ext Cab GMC gets 15~16 around town and 20~21 on the road.
