The temp this Saturday is forecast to be above the recommended temp for installng one. If that holds true I will be installing one on my boat. Any tips or hints you can share about the application process?
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

Throwback,
I installed one this past Sunday. It really was easier than I expected. The hardest part was getting it marked off. Go slow when you actually put it on, and make sure you start it straight! I thought I could eye ball it while sitting on the tounge of the trailer, but it worked much better laying or sitting under the boat and looking towards the bow. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, I will. I was thinking I would use my creeper and apply it from under the boat.

I don't know for sure. I think it would depend on whether they are welded or riveted and where the seams are on the welded ones?

Make sure u take your time with the prep. work.......Clean the area real well and scruff it up with the enclosed pad. I used 3m 5200 marine sealant on the edges afterwards, it made for a cleaner looking job! also, just remove the backing a little as u go, so it wont get stuck to anything....

back when i was installing those things. i ALWAYS used 200 grit sand paper and roughed up the surface, then wipe off with acetone to help clean it, then the enclosed pad, then the applicator stuff. the sealant around the edges is a good idea. i never did that. just push up on it REALLY hard to "squeeze" the adhesive towards the edges.
won't hurt to lay it out flat and heat it up some before trying to instal it. i always did that.

Well did you get it on without it running at a 45 degree angle across the boat?
Hopefully the winds will let you try it out next week.

Yeah, I got it on. It's just not the same as it used to be crawling around on your back and getting up and down. It's not that I can't do it, it just takes a little longer. I told my wife I was deliberate and not in the least challenged.

You don't have to explain to me---lol. Crawling around is the easy part---getting up is the hard part!
