!!Awesome Catch!! Man, those pics sure make me think a lot more about wanting to take my Yak to Nails Creek...Next time you go HL&S or gitusumbia , let me know... Would love to hook into some nice crappie...I'll even filet yours and mine and give you all of them if you want, just to be able to go with someone that has experience of catching-em down there would be my appreciation for sure...Just never tried fishing down there outta of my Yak or anytype of way for Crappies...I have a 11" Loon just like yours HL&S, except mine is Red...Steve

I've never been to Nails creek but im gonna try to go Sunday. Iv'e noticed most posters on this site have been in kayaks or boats. My question is about the banks. Are they too brushy, or is it good for bank fishing?

Alot of people fish the banks. Its pretty easy walking. Some areas are easier to fish due to overhanging trees. Its probably a little harder to fish sucessfully for crappie from the bank than for white bass but definitely worth trying. the easiest way to walk in that I know of is at the bridge on cr125 the other way is to park at the wma parking area just before the creek and walk across the road to the trail never done that one but the trail is pretty well defined and gets you you farther down stream. hope that helps

Would it be easier to get through brush to crappie spots w/ a full size collapsible rod?

I like a spinning reel on a medium light rod about 5'6" to get in and around trees and limbs but there is room for a longer rod and could be preferable for crappie if jigging around brushfrom the bank

Nails creek is split between bank and boat fishing. The lower section is best from a boat but from the trail-way bridge up it is bank fishing only for the most part. With the rain we got last night the creek should be running well so the whitebass will move up a little more but the crappie will probably stay put where they are now.
Mason, Yes a long crappie pole will work well and a slip cork does too.

Thanks guys I'll be there walking the banks Sunday. I'm tired of waiting for the action to pick up in my neck of the woods.

I guess that area did not get that much rain. Do not have much time this weekend but I am thinking I will try to get to the creeks. Still early in the year to hit them hard, but nice days like today make it hard to stay around the office. Anyone, else headed out this weekend?

I'll be at NB EARLY Sunday morning fishing for whites...The last trip there yesterday I caught all 8 keeper(white-males) just downstream from main bridge at the parking lot 3:30p.m-6:30p.m.... Monday I might try taking my Yak with some minnows and hit Nails Creek for some Crappie...Just depends on how i do for whites at NB on Sunday...And if any good reports on crappie in Nails Creek show-up for Saturday and Sunday...
